Fairy Tale Reality Check

"Fat is Not a Fairy Tale" by Jane Yolen I believe is a reality check for not only fiction but also for everyone who reads it. Now "fat" is the reality for most everyone whether you personally have that problem or not. It would seem less of a fairy tale if the princesses were more of a realistic size, and in today's society i am sad to say that fat is realistic. Almost no woman is satisfied with the size she is. No one will write a fairy tale that has a fat princess though because if she were fat she wouldn't be perfect then and fairy tales are designed to be perfect. The perfect people in their perfect world encounter the perfect problem and everything goes perfectly fine for them and they end up having the perfect ending, the end (I better stop now before i really start sounding like a Bob Ross with all his "happiness" and all my "perfect"ness). Fat is not perfect so fat simply doesn't fit. I see fat as a choice for the majority, but i do realize that there is a select group that can't do anything about their weight. However, it is under most of our control if you honestly try hard enough, and it is becoming a serious problem. Since it is so common now, it is now being accepted, but it is dangerously unhealthy. Choose to maintain a healthy lifestyle and help the fairy tales be less fictional and more functional, like a realistic goal to reach.

But we are all people, just people... perfectly imperfect us.
Everyone has flaws; no one is perfect.
Our bodies are our own temples, use them or loose them. Your body is your own body, do what you want to with it.
Reality is not a fairy tale, but it possibly can be.

  1. Reality is deffinitely what you make it. I think a lot of people would be more happy if they just looked to the positive more. For example, if they lose a job instead of crying and feeling sorry for themselves they can thank their boss for the oppurtunity, pick them selves up right away and go find a new job! When people think positive they are happy. And when people are happy they take better care of themselves with such things as diet and exercise. By changing someone's outlook you can change someone's life.
